The Formal Experience

More than just a few photos before the formal

Your formal photos don't have to feel awkward like you've been lined up and told where to stand.

Before your session, I'll get an idea of what you're looking for, what you love about your outfit, whether there's a particular car or location you want included, and anything else that's important to you. Inspiration photos are welcome as they help me understand what you're drawn to and what you want your photos to feel like. However, I will not directly copy these photos - they're just for inspiration.

Then, when we get to the session, I'll guide you through it.

We'll get the classic portraits, the little details, the big smiles, the serious ones, the photos with your family, your friends, your date, your car, or whoever you've brought along for the ride.

The goal is to give you a gallery that feels like you, not a collection of formal photos that could have been taken for anyone.

Not everyone loves having their photo taken. And honestly, you don't have to.

You don't need to know how to pose, where to put your hands, what to do with your face, or what you're supposed to do when someone points a camera at you.

That's my job.

I'll guide you through the session and give you direction when you need it, while still leaving room for things to happen naturally.

So if you're thinking, “I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing in front of a camera”, you're in very good company.

You don't need to know.

Your photos, your choice

After your session, I'll carefully edit your images and prepare your proof gallery. Using this gallery, you'll be able to view and select the photos you want to purchase.

I have three photo collections to choose from and you can choose to purchase more photos as well - it's up to you!

You only buy what you love.

After you have selected your photos, I'll complete the editing process and send your finished gallery to you.

• 30 minute session fee: $80
• 1-hour session fee: $120

Your session fee covers your photography experience, with photo collections available separately.

Your session fee does not include photographs.

You'll choose the photographs you'd like to keep from your proofing gallery after your session.

Your Questions, Answered

How long is a formal session?

Formal sessions go from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the session length you choose and number of people you'd like to be included.

Where can we have our photos taken?

There are a number of locations around the Gympie area that make for beautiful backdrops. Parks, backyards, streets, gardens, buildings - there are so many to choose from! If you need assistance with selecting a location, let me know and we can work out the location of your dreams.

Can I bring my family or friends?

You absolutely can! I would recommend the one hour session so we will have enough time to capture photographs of everyone.

Can we include a car?

Yes! I love it when my clients include a car.

What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?

It's a good idea to have a backup location in mind in case of wet weather. I will keep a close eye on the weather in the lead up to your day and be in contact with you should it not be behave and we can relocate to your second option.

Do you photograph groups as well as individual portraits?

I sure do!

How do I choose my images?

After your session I will cull, do a basic edit on your photos, and upload them to a private online gallery. I will send you a link to this gallery and you can select your favourite portraits.

How do I book?

Contact me via email or my contact form with the date of your formal and I will let you know my availability. After you let me know your session length and confirm your session time, I'll send you the invoice for the session fee and contract. Once both of those are paid/signed you'll be 100% booked in!

When should I book my session?

As soon as your formal date is confirmed. Formal season books fast, so getting in early is the best way to lock in your spot.

Who can join the session?

Anybody who matters - friends, family, even pets. Whether you want solo portraits or laughs

with your crew, we’ll plan it to suit you.

Do we have to shoot outdoors?

Not at all. Outdoor locations offer beautiful light and natural backdrops, while studio settings deliver dramatic, editorial-style portraits.

How long until I receive my images?

You’ll get access to your proof gallery within 2–3 weeks. Selected images are professionally edited and ready to keep or share are ready within 2-3 weeks after selection and payment.
