Maternity & Motherhood
Pregnancy and motherhood are easily one of the most life-changing events that could happen to a woman. And it is truly one of the most beautiful.
Capturing the beauty, strength, and joy of this time through the art of photography is something I am so passionate about and I can't wait to photograph you.
The Process
When to Book
The best time to book your maternity session is between 29 and 35 weeks. You will be fairly mobile at this time and have a beautiful belly. However, if your schedule doesn't fit within this timeframe, let me know and we can work within your timeline. For motherhood sessions, anytime is a good time to book however, definitely think about what stage your baby is at. Are they a newborn? Can they hold their head up? Can they sit unassisted? The answers to these questions will determine the images we can get from our time together.

Hello,
I'm Hannah.
And I’ve been waiting to photograph you.
You know that thing about flamingos?
When they have babies, they lose all their pink. And then slowly - as life settles, as they start to breathe again - they get it back.
That's what Sugar Shot Studio is about.
Getting your pink back.

I've been there
I know what it's like to avoid the camera. To be the person always behind it.
To be the one who untags herself from photographs. To think, “I'll get nice photos when I lose weight, feel more confident, have a better hair day.”
And that's a big part of why my sessions aren't about expecting you to arrive already
knowing how to pose or feeling completely comfortable in front of a camera.
That's my job.

Your session is an experience.
I'll guide you through the poses, help you work out what to wear, tell you what to do with your hands, adjust the little details, and make sure you never have to stand there wondering what you're supposed to be doing.
Whether you're celebrating a pregnancy, your motherhood, a milestone, your formal, or simply yourself, I want you to enjoy being photographed.
This is your excuse.
I've got a wardrobe I'm always adding to: big earrings, tulle gowns, silky fabrics, crowns, statement pieces, disco balls and all sorts of things you might never normally have an excuse to wear.
This is your excuse.
We'll put together something that feels like you, I'll guide you through the whole thing, and we'll have some fun along the way.
And then I'll create photographs that make you stop and think,
"Was that actually me?"
Yes. It was.
A little bit about me
I'm a photographer, designer, lifelong creative, wife and mum of three, and a fifth-generation photographer from Gympie.
My family's photography story began here in 1908. Five generations later, I'm still behind the camera.
I've grown up around cameras, photographs, negatives, stories and the idea that a photograph can become something you'll treasure long after the moment itself has passed.
These days, I get to create those photographs for other people.
My style is vibrant, polished and full of personality. I love creating beautiful photographs that feel finished without making you look like somebody else.
And perhaps most importantly, I pay attention.
To the light. Your expression. Your hands. Your dress.
The background. The little details that can make the difference between a photograph that's nice and one you can't stop looking at.

You don't have to be confident before you book.
You don't have to know how to pose.
You don't have to think you're photogenic.
You don't have to wait until you look different.
You just have to show up.
I'll take care of the rest.
Ready to be photographed?
A little recognition along the way
